On January 24, 2019, 16-year-old Jaylan Saunders was fatally shot while sleeping in his bed at his home on Hill Street in Montgomery, Alabama. The incident occurred around 1 a.m., when shots were fired into the residence, striking Jaylan multiple times. Authorities indicated that the shooting was not random, suggesting the home was specifically targeted.
