La'Byrion Caffey, 20, a Black/African American male from Montgomery, Alabama, was shot and killed on Friday, July 4, 2025. Officers and fire medics were dispatched a little after 6 p.m. to the 6000 block of Sherburn Road, a neighborhood off Troy Highway. There, police found La'Byrion Caffey, 20, with a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene as the summer evening settled over that stretch of Montgomery.
