On February 15, 2019, in Bessemer, Alabama, 25-year-old Carterrius Jamez Lowe was fatally shot during an altercation with 27-year-old Shaniqua Moore. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 24th Street South. Following the dispute, Moore retrieved a firearm and shot Lowe, who was subsequently transported to UAB Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Moore was arrested at the scene and charged with capital murder.
