On the evening of July 30, 2019, tragedy struck in Mobile, Alabama, when 17-year-old African American male TyDarius Jones was fatally shot on Rickarby Street. The Mobile Police Department received a call at approximately 6:34 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 500 block of Rickarby Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered TyDarius Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
