In the late spring of 2020, a domestic dispute in Semmes, Alabama, escalated to a fatal conclusion, ending the life of 51-year-old Steven Warren McManus. On the evening of May 26th, McManus was at a home on Highwood Circle West with his 34-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Moberly. An argument broke out between the two, tragically turning violent.
During the heated altercation, Moberly alleged that McManus choked her. In response, she armed herself with a gun and fired, striking McManus.
The gunshot wound proved to be fatal. The gravity of the situation was compounded by the presence of two children, both under the age of twelve, who were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Following the incident, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office launched a murder investigation. Moberly was identified as the suspect in McManus's death. The investigation pointed to the shooting being a result of the domestic argument that had spiraled out of control. As a result of the investigation, Amanda Moberly was charged with the murder of Steven McManus.
