On July 5, 2020, 22-year-old Markeesa Pettway from Boykin, Alabama, was fatally shot in the early morning hours. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Southland Drive, where Pettway was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being transported to a local hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
