In the early morning hours of October 17, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Cecil Felix Jackson Jr. was tragically cut short on Magee Street in Prichard, Alabama, just behind Ella Grant Elementary School. Jackson, a Black male, was found fatally shot, leaving his family and the local community in a state of shock and grief. Remembered by his loved ones as the life of the party, he was a graduate of Blount High School and an enthusiastic fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In the wake of the
shooting, Jackson's family expressed their profound frustration with what they perceived as a lack of communication and progress from the Prichard Police Department regarding the investigation into his death. It wasn't until November 1, 2023, that the police department publicly addressed the incident and appealed to the community for any information that might lead to the identification of the person or persons responsible. To honor his memory, his family held a visitation service on October 28, 2023, at the Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard.
As of late 2024, the investigation into the murder of Cecil Felix Jackson Jr. remains an active and open case. Law enforcement officials have not yet publicly identified any suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Prichard Police Department continues to urge the public to come forward with any information that could help bring a resolution to the case and provide a measure of justice for Jackson and his grieving family.
