In the early hours of a Tuesday in August, a tragic event unfolded in the 400 block of 56th Street, NE in Washington, D.C. A 26-year-old Black male, Dwight Hilton Gaiter of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was discovered suffering from a stab wound at approximately 12:15 a.m. on August 9, 2011. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Personnel from the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services provided immediate medical attention to Gaiter before transporting him to a local hospital for further treatment of his critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Dwight Gaiter succumbed to his injuries the following day. He was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
