On March 12, 2021, 17-year-old Deu'nta KeShun "Pooda" Moore, a varsity basketball player at Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville, Alabama, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting on Ascent Trail near Sparkman Drive. Emergency responders transported Moore to Huntsville Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
