On the evening of November 19, 2020, a shooting incident occurred at a business located at 708 Poplar Avenue in Huntsville, Alabama. When Huntsville Police officers arrived at the scene around 9:15 p.m., they discovered a male victim inside who had sustained gunshot wounds. The injured individual was identified as 18-year-old DeAndre Denzel Arrington.
He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Huntsville Police Department's Major Crimes Unit launched a death investigation into the shooting. Less than a month later, on December 13, 2020, an arrest was made in connection with Arrington's death. The Huntsville Police Anti-Crime Team, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, apprehended 23-year-old D'Marcus Derwell Bibbs in the 3100 block of Greenhill Drive.
Bibbs was taken into custody on an outstanding murder warrant for his alleged involvement in the death of DeAndre Arrington. At the time of his arrest, Bibbs faced additional charges, including carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree possession of marijuana. The investigation into the shooting was noted as ongoing at the time of Bibbs's arrest.
