On the morning of June 14, 2021, 18-year-old Barbara Ann Harmon, a female resident of Talladega, Alabama, was discovered deceased in her vehicle. First responders were initially called to the 1400 block of Alpine Winterboro Road for what was reported as a vehicle crash. Upon their arrival, law enforcement and the Winterboro Volunteer Fire Department found Harmon unresponsive inside the car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite their efforts, first responders were unable to revive her.
An investigation into her death was launched by the Talladega County Sheriff's Office. Their work led them to identify a suspect in the murder of the young mother of two. In late July 2021, a felony murder warrant was issued for the arrest of 20-year-old Aaron Austin Turner of Sycamore.
On September 8, 2021, nearly three months after Harmon's death, Aaron Austin Turner turned himself into the Talladega County Sheriff's Office. He was subsequently arrested on the outstanding felony murder warrant. Following his arrest, Turner was held on a $50,000 bond.
