In the winter of 1986, the life of 24-year-old Sherri Ann Smith Weathers, a white female student at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On February 19, 1986, Sherri and her two young sons, five-year-old Chad and four-year-old Joseph, were found murdered in their apartment. The cause of death for Sherri was determined to be strangulation, while her sons died from ligature strangulation.
