On November 18, 2017, 31-year-old Dorthy Michelle "MyChelle" Haney was found fatally shot in the head on the side of Turner Mill Road in Talladega County, Alabama. A mother of six—four sons and two stepdaughters—Haney was last seen alive at the Sunoco gas station where she worked. She clocked in for her shift and then disappeared.
