In the summer of 2025, a concerned relative's call for a welfare check led to a grim discovery in Talladega, Alabama. On the afternoon of July 5th, police entered an apartment in the 1500 block of Old Shocco Road, where they found the bodies of four adults. Among them was Querida Flores, a 30-year-old Black/African American female. The relative had reported not hearing from her for two days, prompting the authorities' visit around 3:30 p.m.
The scene inside the apartment was tragic;
Flores and three men, later identified as 27-year-old Jamari Evans, 44-year-old Nicholas Keith, and 40-year-old Jeffreon Keith, had all sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The Talladega County Coroner's Office confirmed the identities of the victims, and their bodies were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsies. The news of the quadruple homicide shocked the community, as investigators from the Talladega Police Department, the Talladega County Drug and Major Crime Task Force, and the Talladega County District Attorney's Office began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the four deaths.
In the days following the discovery, law enforcement appealed to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. CrimeStoppers announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, emphasizing that tips could be provided anonymously. The investigation, a collaborative effort involving local, county, and federal authorities, including forensic technicians from Jacksonville State University's Center for Applied Forensics, continued to press forward.
A significant development in the case came on July 22, 2025, when the Talladega Police Department announced the arrest of 28-year-old Daishawn Tamar Jackson. He was charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting deaths of Querida Flores and the three other victims. Jackson was taken into custody and is being held in the Talladega County Jail without bond as the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the killings.
