On October 28, 2021, in Talladega, Alabama, 31-year-old LaToya Shardae' Merritt was found deceased in her residence on Howard Street. Authorities discovered both Merritt and 32-year-old Kavaris Lamont Oden dead in the bedroom of her trailer, each having sustained gunshot wounds.
