On October 10, 2021, at approximately 7:11 p.m., Mobile Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2900 block of Booker Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old James Shinn Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Shinn Jr. was born on March 5, 1964. A visitation was held on October 23, 2021, at New Destiny Christian Church in Mobile, followed by a funeral service. Interment took place at Gethsemane Cemetery.
