The deceased were identified as 29-year-old Reshaun Demar Cunningham and 26-year-old Joseph Lewis Jones III. The incident unfolded in the yard of a residence on South Leeds Avenue, where an argument between the two men turned into a physical altercation.
According to the Prichard Police Department, the
confrontation reached a deadly climax when both Cunningham and Jones drew firearms and exchanged gunfire. Both men sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations into the incident determined that the two men shot and killed each other, and as a result, there were no outstanding suspects in the case.
Both Reshaun Demar Cunningham and Joseph Lewis Jones were reportedly active members of The Light of the Village ministry, a local organization focused on community outreach.
