On the night of January 28, 2022, 17-year-old Javarius Deon Reid was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 11:40 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2900 block of 16th Street North. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple spent shell casings in the roadway. Shortly thereafter, authorities were informed that Reid had been transported to UAB Hospital by private vehicle, where he was pronounced dead.
