On a tragic Friday evening, February 4, 2022, the life of a young man was cut short in Mobile, Alabama. Deion L. Dembert, a 21-year-old male, was found deceased from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Park West Apartments located on Hillcrest Road. The Mobile Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 10:39 p.m., after a 19-year-old male arrived at Springhill Medical Center by a personal vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, directing officers to the apartment complex
where Dembert was discovered.
The investigation into Dembert's death unfolded over the following weeks and months, leading to an initial arrest. In March 2022, about a month after the fatal shooting, the Mobile Police Department identified 19-year-old Christian Rogers as a suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on Monday, March 7, 2022, Rogers was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Deion Dembert.
The case continued to develop, and nearly two years later, a second suspect was apprehended. On Friday, January 12, 2024, 22-year-old Jasmine Walker was arrested in connection with Dembert's murder. Her arrest came as the result of a secret grand jury indictment. Walker is also facing a murder charge for her alleged involvement in the shooting death of Deion L. Dembert.
