In September of 2014, the community of Taylor, Michigan, was shaken by the tragic death of 48-year-old Renee M. Lutton. A loving mother and grandmother, her life was cut short in an act of violence that left family and friends grappling with a sudden and profound loss. The unfortunate discovery was made by her son, who, after being unable to reach his mother, went to her home on Beverly Street to check on her.
Upon entering the residence on the evening of September 15th, he was met with
a devastating scene. Inside, he found his mother, Renee Lutton, and her 59-year-old boyfriend, James Walker, both deceased from gunshot wounds. The initial investigation by the Taylor Police Department pointed towards a violent domestic incident, with authorities quickly announcing that they were not seeking any third-party suspects.
As the investigation progressed, the case was ultimately determined to be a murder-suicide. Law enforcement officials concluded that James Walker shot and killed Renee Lutton before turning the gun on himself. This conclusion brought a somber end to the investigation, leaving a family to mourn the loss of a cherished mother and grandmother, whose life was taken in a final, tragic act of domestic violence.
