In a quiet Lincoln, California neighborhood on the evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a tragic event unfolded that left one man dead and another facing a homicide charge. Just before 6 p.m., police received a call from a man, later identified as 35-year-old Zachary Siegfried, who claimed he had shot another person inside a residence on Hillwood Loop.
The caller alleged that the other individual had approached him with a knife.
Upon their arrival at the home in the 1200 block of Hillwood Loop, Lincoln police officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Placer County Sheriff's Office later identified the deceased as 61-year-old Kelly Fedder. Investigators recovered both a gun and a knife from the home.
Siegfried, the initial caller, was detained by police at the scene for questioning. Following witness interviews and an analysis of the evidence gathered, authorities arrested Siegfried on Wednesday. He was booked into the South Placer Jail on suspicion of homicide.
Authorities have indicated that they believe Siegfried and Fedder were acquainted with each other.
