On May 9, 2017, Sheneice Sumpter, a 27-year-old African American woman from Mobile, Alabama, was tragically found deceased in her vehicle behind an abandoned house on Bay Road. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Authorities quickly identified her boyfriend, 32-year-old Peter Gales, as the prime suspect in her murder. Gales was arrested the following day and charged with murder.
