On May 7, 2024, 17-year-old Brandon "Tayy Dior" Thomas, a Black transgender girl from Mobile, Alabama, was tragically shot and killed. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 3:30 a.m. and discovered her body in the front yard of a residence, near a vehicle that had crashed into the house.
