On a Sunday afternoon in Mobile, Alabama, on November 28, 2021, the life of 29-year-old Quanita Fletcher was tragically cut short. Police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 4:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of Ogburn Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Both Fletcher and another 28-year-old woman were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Fletcher, a mother, later succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a domestic violence situation. The Mobile Police Department identified Marquis L. Gray, 28, as a person of interest in the case and sought him for questioning. The day after the shooting, on November 29, 2021, Gray turned himself in to the authorities.
Following his surrender, Marquis L. Gray was arrested and faced serious charges in connection with the incident. He was charged with one count of murder for the death of Quanita Fletcher and one count of attempted murder for the injuries sustained by the second victim.
