On September 19, 2022, Auburn Police responded to a report of a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1200 block of South College Street. The victim, 32-year-old Walter T. Williams Jr. of Tuskegee, had been shot in the upper torso and lower extremity. Despite receiving medical assistance, Williams succumbed to his injuries at East Alabama Medical Center around 12:43 a.m.
