In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 14, 2023, the quiet of Goodwater, Alabama, was shattered by a fatal shooting. Robin Durell Braswell, a 31-year-old man, was found near Coosa County Rd. 52 with a gunshot wound to his chest. Law enforcement and medical personnel were already at the scene when officers from the Coosa County Sheriff's Office arrived around 2:40 a.m. to assist the Goodwater Police Department.
