In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 14, 2023, the quiet of Goodwater, Alabama, was shattered by a fatal shooting. Robin Durell Braswell, a 31-year-old man, was found near Coosa County Rd. 52 with a gunshot wound to his chest. Law enforcement and medical personnel were already at the scene when officers from the Coosa County Sheriff's Office arrived around 2:40 a.m. to assist the Goodwater Police Department.
Despite attempts to revive him, Braswell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Coosa County Sheriff's Office immediately began an investigation into the shooting death. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect. On a Wednesday later that month, the Sheriff's Office announced an arrest in the case.
Lei-Keston Demicha Sharoy Ford, a 21-year-old from the nearby city of Alexander City, was taken into custody. He has been charged with the murder of Robin Durell Braswell. Following his arrest, Ford was being held at the Coosa County Jail. The investigation was ongoing, and authorities initially sought information from the public to help piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting.
