On the night of May 5, 2022, 23-year-old African American male Malik Ishmael Holtzclaw was fatally shot in Goodwater, Alabama. At approximately 10:57 p.m., the Goodwater Police Department received reports of multiple gunshots on Highland Street. Upon arrival, officers found Malik Holtzclaw suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Russell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
