On August 8, 2021, 29-year-old Desmond Jamal Robinson of Goodwater, Alabama, was fatally shot near the intersection of Park Street and Jacob Street around 9 p.m. Law enforcement swiftly responded, and by 11:57 p.m. that night, 29-year-old Jumarkis Deontae Cook of Talladega was arrested in connection with the homicide.
