On the morning of March 2, 2023, Selma Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire near Division Street and Burgundy Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a silver Chevrolet at the intersection, with 20-year-old Quintaruis Perkins unresponsive in the driver's seat, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics were summoned, but Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
