On May 15, 2023, 64-year-old Cynthia Kay Spinks of Bremen, Alabama, was tragically killed. Her son, Jeremy Heath Higgins, was arrested and charged with her murder. The trial commenced in April 2024, and after deliberations, a Cullman County jury convicted Higgins of murder on April 17, 2024. Following the verdict, Higgins was held in custody awaiting sentencing.
