On January 7, 2022, 26-year-old Courtney Spraggins was found fatally shot in the head inside her vehicle at the Weston Ranch Apartments in Huntsville, Alabama. Spraggins, originally from Trion, Georgia, was seven months pregnant at the time of her death. She had been in a relationship with David McCoy, a 28-year-old off-duty Huntsville police officer, who was subsequently arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with her death.
