On May 22, 2023, 31-year-old Deandre Montray Hollice of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot during an altercation at the Town Square Village Apartments on Town and Country Circle, located southeast of Center Point. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when Hollice and 21-year-old Eslam Mohamed Zaki became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. During the struggle, Zaki discharged a firearm, striking Hollice.
