On June 16, 2023, in Evergreen, Alabama, a tragic double homicide occurred in the Johnsonville community. At approximately 11:28 p.m., Conecuh County E-911 received a call reporting a shooting on Boone Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Jatonio Williams deceased from gunshot wounds. Ten-year-old Joseph "JoeJoe" Rankin was also found at the scene with critical injuries and was transported to Evergreen Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
