On July 30, 2023, at approximately 12:52 a.m., Mobile Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting on Burdette Drive in Mobile, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Lakeva Dees suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
