On October 6, 2023, at approximately 1:12 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers were patrolling the 800 block of 2nd Avenue North when they heard gunshots. Upon arrival at a nearby parking lot, they discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds: 22-year-old Jjuan Cole, 27-year-old Dyron Mays-Perry, and an unidentified adult female.
