In the late summer of 2018, a father's life was cut short by violence on the streets of Birmingham, Alabama. Brandon Lee Wilson, a 30-year-old man from McCalla, was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The incident was one of four homicides to occur in the city on that day alone.
Around 2:30 in the afternoon, police responded to a report of shots fired in the Roosevelt City neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered Wilson inside a crashed SUV.
Initially, it was unclear whether his death resulted from the gunshot wound or injuries sustained in the crash. However, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that a gunshot wound was the cause of death.
Wilson was remembered as the father of a young daughter.
