In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Birmingham, Alabama, the promise of a new day was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Remus Kevin Scalf. A 46-year-old male, Scalf was diligently working as a home contractor, renovating a house in the Ensley neighborhood on March 20, 2018. The quiet hum of his labor was abruptly silenced by the sound of gunfire in what investigators believe was a predawn robbery attempt.
