On October 30, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Decatur police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 714 Third Avenue Southeast. Upon arrival, officers found 56-year-old Terrance Heath Faulks suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m.
