On Valentine's Day, a young couple, 20-year-old Christian Norris and his 20-year-old girlfriend Angeliyah Webster, embarked on what should have been a romantic movie date in Birmingham, Alabama. This outing, however, would be their last. The couple was last seen at approximately 5 p.m. in their white Ford Taurus. When they did not return and could not be reached, their families grew deeply concerned, as it was uncharacteristic for them not to be in regular contact.
A day later, on February 15, they were officially reported missing, prompting a search by both their relatives and the Birmingham Police Department.
The search came to a tragic end on Friday, February 16, when police discovered the couple's white Ford Taurus in the Wylam neighborhood of Birmingham. Inside the vehicle, both Norris and Webster were found deceased, having suffered from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation immediately pointed towards a double homicide. At the time of their deaths, Angeliyah Webster was pregnant with their child, adding another layer of tragedy to the devastating loss. The couple had been excitedly planning a Disney-themed gender reveal party for April.
For months, the case remained without an arrest, leaving the families of the young couple in a painful state of uncertainty. However, a significant breakthrough was made in connection with a broader investigation into a series of violent crimes in the Birmingham area. Damien McDaniel, a 23-year-old man, was identified as a suspect in their murders. Investigators have characterized McDaniel as a 'murder for hire' suspect and have linked him to a total of 18 homicides that occurred between July 2023 and September 2024. Along with the double homicide of Norris and Webster and their unborn child, McDaniel faces charges in several other killings, including two mass shootings. Police believe that at least one of the victims in the car was specifically targeted and that the couple may have been kidnapped before they were shot.
