On August 10, 2024, in Ohatchee, Alabama, 70-year-old Randall Andrew Ferguson was fatally shot inside his home. His wife, Debbie Ferguson, was also shot and later died from her injuries at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Their son, 35-year-old Tyler Ferguson, who resided with them, called 911 to report the shootings and was detained at the scene. He has been charged with two counts of murder and is being held in the Calhoun County Jail without bond.
