In the late hours of August 17, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Martez Reshard Paige, Jr. was tragically cut short in Brighton, Alabama, a community near his hometown of Bessemer. A Black male, Paige was discovered lying in the roadway at the intersection of Jaybird Road and Edward Street, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
