On August 20, 2024, at approximately 1:03 a.m., 44-year-old Brandon Barclay Jones was fatally shot during an altercation with his roommate at their residence on the 1200 block of Woodslee Street, located in an unincorporated area near Birmingham's Killough Springs neighborhood. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a person shot and discovered Jones lying on the front porch; he was pronounced dead at the scene by Center Point Fire & Rescue.
