On February 21, 2018, 51-year-old Eric Anthony Roney was fatally wounded by a stray bullet during a car-to-car shootout on the 800 block of 4th Avenue West in Birmingham's Bush Hills neighborhood. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Roney, an innocent bystander, was struck by gunfire and later pronounced dead at the scene.
