In the late afternoon of August 29, 2024, in Decatur, Alabama, 50-year-old Yvette Stover Fuller was found inside a vehicle near a Big Lots store on 6th Avenue, having been shot. Emergency services were called to the scene, where Fuller was pronounced dead. A man who was with her in the car had also sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical attention.
Hours after the shooting, Marcus Fuller, the 51-year-old estranged husband of the victim, turned
himself in to the authorities. He was subsequently arrested and charged with capital murder. He is currently being held at the Morgan County Jail without the possibility of bond. The couple had reportedly been separated for about a month prior to the fatal incident.
Yvette Stover Fuller was a mother of three and a respected business owner in her community. She was the proprietor of Fuller Homes LLC, a business dedicated to housing and assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For her contributions and accomplishments, she had been honored with the Black Girls Rock Award from the NAACP, an organization of which she was a member. Her family described her as a devoted and hands-on mother who celebrated her children's achievements with great enthusiasm.
