In the summer of 2017, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in a Decatur, Alabama hotel room. Tiara Alexandra Cole, a 22-year-old female from Lawrenceville, Georgia, was found deceased on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Quality Inn. An investigation revealed she had been fatally shot.
Information provided to the Decatur Police by Cole's family indicated that she had traveled to Alabama with a man identified as Carey Davis, Jr. This vital piece of information quickly made Davis a person of interest in the case. The vehicle that Cole and Davis were said to have traveled in was located by sheriff's deputies in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
Late in the evening on the same day Tiara Cole's body was discovered, Carey Davis, Jr. was arrested in Gwinnett County on charges of theft by receiving and loitering or prowling. Upon his arrest, he reportedly invoked his right to counsel regarding an altercation that occurred in Decatur, Alabama. A warrant for his arrest for the murder of Tiara Cole was issued, and he was held awaiting extradition to Alabama to face the charge. His bond in Alabama was set at $250,000.
