On October 20, 2024, Pastor Robert Matthews of Joy Tabernacle Full Gospel Church in Mobile, Alabama, was fatally shot by his 36-year-old daughter, Charity Matthews. The incident occurred at the Matthews' residence around 7:45 p.m. when Charity allegedly shot both her parents. Pastor Matthews succumbed to his injuries, while his wife, Twinetta Matthews, was injured and is recovering in the hospital.
