On October 26, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred in Union Springs, Alabama, resulting in the deaths of two 19-year-olds: David Lamar Benton Jr. of Union Springs and Adrian Tarver Benton of Auburn. The incident took place in the 300 block of Waugh Street, where both young men were fatally wounded. David Benton Jr. succumbed to his injuries at the Bullock County Hospital, while Adrian Benton was pronounced dead at the scene.
