In the small community of Hollytree, Alabama, a long-standing feud between neighbors culminated in a tragic death. On the afternoon of November 4, 2024, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on a private drive off County Road 12. Upon arrival, they found 42-year-old Adam Douglas Cooner deceased. Cooner, a resident of Hollytree and a United States Marine Corps veteran, had been fatally shot.
The investigation quickly led to the arrest of Cooner's neighbor, 57-year-old Daniel
Lambert. According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the two men had been embroiled in a dispute for years. On that Monday afternoon, an exchange between Cooner and Lambert at the front of Lambert's property escalated, ending with Lambert allegedly shooting Cooner. This was not the first time the conflict had required legal intervention; Lambert had previously been arrested in 2022 on a misdemeanor harassment charge filed by Cooner, though the case was later dismissed.
Lambert was taken into custody and has been charged with murder in connection with Cooner's death. He was booked into the Jackson County jail, and at the time of the initial reports, bond had not been set. The community was left to mourn the loss of Cooner, who was remembered as a proud father of three boys, a beloved son, and a brother. He had an associate's degree in Machine Technology and was employed as a Master Machinist at Norris Cylinder in Huntsville. His interests included hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
