On January 4, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., 27-year-old Andrew Gilliam was fatally shot while sleeping in his apartment at the Sunlake at Edgewater complex in Huntsville, Alabama. The assailant fired multiple rounds from outside the building, striking Gilliam through his bedroom window. Two other apartments were also hit by gunfire during the incident, but no additional injuries were reported.
