On November 10, 2024, 18-year-old La'Tavion Johnson from Troy, Alabama, was fatally shot during a party at Tuskegee University, coinciding with the institution's 100th homecoming celebrations. The incident occurred in the early hours at the West Commons on-campus apartments, resulting in Johnson's death and injuries to 16 others, 12 of whom sustained gunshot wounds.
